Patricia "Pat" Brucoli (also know as the3rdparty) is a Plug-In Profit Site answer machine. She runs the help desk, moderates the forum, gets PIPS member set-up to start their venture, and supports them throughout the journey. She juggles many issues and is the best at what she does. What I admire about Pat is that she is very caring and really wants all Plug-In Profit Site members to succeed. I am grateful to be able to call Pat my go to person, confidant, my PIPS encyclopedia, and my friend. She is a wonderful person who has helped me and I know many, many others in such a great way.

Tell us a little bit about yourself please.

I have been a member of PIPS since August of 2004 and have been the Member Support Director and PIPS Forum Moderator since February of 2006. Prior to working from home on the Internet I had been in corporate banking information services for over 15 years.

How did you come across the Plug-In Profit Site?

When I first started pursuing Internet marketing, I found Traffic Swarm. They had a special offer to read a sales page and answer a question to prove you read it, to earn free traffic credits. I read it and was mesmerized by how compellingly it was written and couldn’t wait to join the program. You guessed it, it was written by Stone Evans!

What has your overall experience been with PIPS?

It is a continual learning experience. Prior to finding PIPS I had a lot of information that I had no idea what to do with, or how to fit it all together. I had both those common newbie maladies, information overload, and paralysis by analysis. The way that the PIPS program is put together to include many elements and how they work together is condusive to being able to take action immediately.

It is noteworthy to mention that the sense of community and support that is created by the member support forum is what kept me going through the times when I couldn’t see any light at the end of the tunnel - except through others. The sense of not being alone in an unknown territory really encouraged me.

How did you come to meet and work with Stone?

Stone had just written Dotcomology and asked for volunteers to proof-read it. I was one who volunteered and through our back and forth communications with regard to this, we began to have a dialogue. I mentioned to him another facet of my business, which was virtual assistance, including copy writing and editing, and asked him if he could refer anyone who needed help to me in the future.

I was really surprised when he said, “NO” (deep gasp), “…because PIPS needs you” (exhale). So I put together a proposal and before I knew it I had my first major client. PIPS had never had an official help desk and I guess he could see the time had come!

I can tell you he is a wonderful person to work for. I think we are a great team. He sees the big picture (visionary) and I am a detail oriented operations person. I have always been ‘self-supervised’ and he pretty much trusts me to figure most things out on my own. If I get into a dilemma, we will talk it out and come up with a solution.

How do you keep up with all of the duties you perform with PIPS, the forum, etc?

In chunks. In my first year online I was obsessed and addicted. I was spending 12-15 hours a day online 7 days a week, and doing nothing but spinning my wheels. We are human and we need to rest. Taking even an hour off from the computer really helps me to organize my thoughts, rest my eyes, and feel ready to roll again.

I know what I have to get done everyday and even if it means I have to work until 10pm, I take frequent breaks throughout the day. I really get much more done, more accurately this way, than staying glued to the computer. I am also now trying to take a whole day off where I don’t do anything on the computer at all. I am not sure that this is working for me though because there is too much stress catching up when things pile up for 24 hours.

What is one thing that you would like to see from pipsters that has been a lacking element?

I would say the majority come with an attitude that as soon as the site goes up, the money pours in. When they realize that it requires that they learn how to promote their business and that it is going to take some time (as any new business does) they become disenchanted. These are the ones who quit before giving it a chance. Instead of appreciation for all that they have been given to start with, they have a sense of entitlement. They need to know there is no free lunch. So what is lacking? Thinking realistically. Determination. Faith.

What would tell all newbies to do first when getting started to keep them motivated and not get discouraged?

First get organized. Make folders both on and offline for each program or facet. Have one sheet of paper with all their IDs and passwords. Write down a plan that includes small, achievable goals, and detail the actions necessary to reach those goals. Set a budget. Going forward to Square One: Focus only on the training and when it is completed keep on learning and discovering new things. Refuse to allow yourself to get discouraged or skeptical. It is not only counter-productive, it can be the murder of your dream.

What do you see for the future of PIPS?

As they say ‘there is nothing constant except change’. I can see that it has evolved over time by going with the flow. Stone is constantly testing and tweaking and I feel that he is never going to stop adding more and more value for people. I am hoping that as we progress, we will keep up with the changes on the technical side, and incorporate more ‘Web2.0’ enhancements.
